Overview:

By late morning, the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment was finally able to cross Purple Heart Draw, but had suffered heavy casualties. Meanwhile on the east side of St-Georges-d'Elle, the Germans still held the lower end of Purple Heart Draw. It was decided that in an effort to draw off any Germans from reinforcing their position in front of the 1st Battalion’s main effort, the 3rd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment would launch a series of diversionary attacks. Company L, 23rd Infantry Regiment started forward, tasked with the clearance of the eastern half of St-Georges-d'Elle, but no sooner had it cleared the last hedgerow just north of the town, when it too came under heavy fire...

The American firepower wrestled the Germans out of the stone buildings and the Shermans pushed the survivors to the edge of the draw. The 40LL AT Gun was positioned in X13 and managed to Shock a Sherman, which was knocked out on Turn 6 after going to Unconfirmed kill. The Americans would end with 30+ VP in the victory locations at game end.

American winAnother very fun quick-hitting scenario, Americans have to fight through a small village, crossing the usual bocage terrain, dodging enemy strong points, crawling through wire, and tip-toeing through minefields to reach the edge of Purple Heart Draw with at least 14 VP.

As usual in these PHD scenarios, the Americans have a significant advantage in numbers and firepower. Bob had a solid defense line, but when his handful of units began to break under the weight of all that Ami FP, his line collapsed quickly. His well-posted HMG made little impact and was sorely missed when it was taken out early.
