Overview:

The first night's attack had virtually wiped out L Company and its survivors were therefore folded into Captain Kitz's K Company, which along with I Company occupied their formed ground on the hills to the east of the perimeter. Most of L Company's men were positioned west of the hill in ground covering the causeway and bridge. The CPVA made its return just before dark in an eager haste to finish off their previous night's mission and soon overran a machine gun position in K Company's line. The enemy carried this weapon into the perimeter, set it up, and fired so as to cause chaos and confusion in the regiment's rear. However, this night's attack was not mono-directional. The Chinese came down the spurs to Hill 1456 and struck the perimeter on its south side along the gun line. Here however, the addition of anti-aircraft artillery played a key role in the defense. Their interlocking fire cut great saths into the enemy's line. Nonetheless, the Chinese pressed their attacks, focusing especially on the AAA vehicles.
