Overview:

The night's previous attack, which had seen waves of CPVA just about completely overrun the entirety of RCT-31's positions at the inlet, left B Battery's perimeter as the sole location where survivors could be found although unbeknownst to these men. because of the fog of war and early morning twilight, M Company also held out in its perimeter. Within B Battery's lines could be found men from aJI the rifle companies of the 3rd Battalion, along with personnel from A Battery, truck drivers from the 31st Motor Transport Company, and a few survivors from the 3rd Battalion's HQ. Soon after daybreak. Lt. Henry Traywick., the Commanding Officer of 3rd Battalions motor transport company, organized a composite unit to counterattack the enemy .. which lay right across from him still in control of A Battery's position and the adjoining battalion command post and its vital communications equipment.
