Overview:

Following a valiant defence of Isurava Village in late August, the Australians withdrew south, relentlessly pursued by the Japanese. The Japanese Nankai Shitai (South Seas Force) under the command of Major General Horii, were eager to inflict a devastating defeat on the Australians. Isurava had hurt Maroubra Force, but it was not broken. Brigade Hill is an impressive mountain ridge roughly halfway along the Kokoda Trail. Mission Ridge extends from its north face like a nose. The eastern face is very steep whilst the western face is only slightly less so as it drops down to the Fagume River. It was here that Brigadier Arnold Potts, Commander of Maroubra Force, was ordered to stand and fight the advancing Japanese.
Attacker: Australian (2/14th and 2/16th Battalions, 21st Brigade)

2025-10-22(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Japanese winJapanese MTRs set up on hill created havoc amongst the attacking Australians. A constant rain of fire kept Australians broken most of the time.
2025-07-28(D) Eben Johnson vs Ernie Cameron Japanese winAustralians made a tactical mistake in not realizing the IJA reinforcements could enter anywhere along the western edge. I entered well to his rear and was able to take and hold his original victory hex. It was a great scenario with lots of ups and downs, but his oversight probably cost the Australians a win. To compound things, we might also have forgotten the ANZAC's were stealthy.
2023-05-21(D) Michael Rodgers vs Erik Lindblad Japanese winJapanese only lightly defended the center hill. Used the other hills to cover the center. Japanese eliminated the Aussie reinforcements.
2023-04-15(D) nathan wegener vs James Lancaster Japanese winQuickly turned into a smoke fest with little damage the first couple of turns. Japs were able to break enough Aussies in the woods with the mortars to keep them at bay. The rear attack charged at the lightly defended back line. Looked like an Aussie win when the HS ambush failed completely near the top of the CC4 hill but some quick maneuvering by the Jap reinforcements recaptured CC4 and defending AA8 saving the back two hills. 2022-12-27(D) Paul Works vs Randy Shurtz Japanese win
