Overview:
Despite a spirited defense of the Simeto Bridgehead, the Germans had retaken the bridge and established a bridgehead of their own south of the Simeto River. After a night of preparation, a counterstroke was launched the morning of the 15th by the 9th Durham Infantry supported by elements of the 44th Royal Tank regiment at 0800. The attack was proceeded by a bombardment and then a smoke screen was laid for the attack.Attacker: British (9th Durham Light Infantry and A and B Squadrons, 44th Royal Tank Regiment, 50th Northumbrian Division)
